Small Group Ministries

What is a small group ministry (SGM)? The answer lies in the name itself.

  • "Small" means a group with a maximum of 8-10 people. Groups of this size provide an opportunity to relate on a more intentional level.
  • "Group" is a gathering of individuals, sometimes selected at random, sometimes selected for a specific interest or characteristic. What separates these groups from others is a focus on "ministry."
  • "Ministry" is the process or act of caring for another. This relates to the spiritual as well as the physical and emotional well-being of the group participants.

SGM provides regular opportunities for lifting one’s mental/emotional horizons up from the mundane considerations of day-to-day life and, in the relative safety of carefully-led small groups, to help people get to know and be known by up to 10 others with similar interests. Small Group Ministry is a great opportunity to meaningfully connect with other members and friends of USG outside of Sunday worship.

Groups are formed and scheduled around the availability of participants and facilitators. For general questions about enrollment or the Small Group Ministry program, please visit the Small Group Ministry table at all September Coffee Hours. If you have additional questions please send an email to Evan Towle at ebtowle@gmail.com  If you would like to join a group email Evan with your availability.
